Still not sure if our Q140MD Core is the right off-road bike for you?
We give you 5 reasons why Core is a great choice of the off-road e-bike:
1) QUALITY MATTERS - The Price / Quality Ratio
Be sure, quality matters when you’re riding off-road. There is a lot of choice out there at different prices ranges. But once you take a closer look at the specifications of the bike, it's components, geometry and quality of welding, you will realise there's not that much choice at all. Do not settle. Make an informed decision and if in doubt, ask!
Q140MD is no pretty little city dweller, it’s an off-road monster waiting to be unleashed!
STRONG BACKBONE
Q140MD’s frame is made of extra strong steel (tensile strength: 1200N/mm2) and 7075 aluminium.
MADE WITH CARE
Our bikes, as well as DIY frame kits, are designed and fabricated in Europe. They're quality made, TIG welded shell shaped frames made of super strong construction steel, and we guarantee they will hold.
SMART DESIGN
The Q140MD frame is not only strong, but also built smart. Its shell like frame design can store large battery packs and ensures that it will stay well protected even if you fall. The frame is designed in a way that gives the rider many options to choose from. The bike's seat type (classic bicycle seat or moto seat) can be changed at any time and so is the and footing type (foot pegs or pedals).
WARRANTY & SPARE PARTS
Every Qulbix bike comes with a warranty. We want our riders to be pleased with their bikes for years to come. We offer all spare parts and annual service of bikes.
2) POWER MATTERS - Understanding the Specs
The Core is a powerful machine, but it's not always easy to understand the specs that are advertised.
For example, the most ambiguous spec is the range. The range always depends on consumption of power, which is determined by various factors, as the over-all weight of the bike, rider and equipment; riding surface and tyres, type of terrain, riding style etc.
Typical energy consumption:
- CRUISING: Low speed and low intensity riding, with a lot of pedalling - PAS system engaged, speeds up to 25-30km/h.
Riding on flat, firm terrain with intermediate tyres and tyre pressure over 1,8 bar.
---15Wh/km - MOST COMMON REAL LIFE RIDING: Medium to high speed riding, with speeds up to 50km/h.
Riding on flat, mixed terrain (soft and hard) with MX tyres and tyre pressure over 1,8 bar.
Moderate acceleration from low speeds / "medium" out of the corner acceleration.
---35Wh/km - RACING: Full speed and high intensity riding, full throttle, maximum available power (12 kW max).
Riding on up and down terrain, soft surface with MX tyres and tyre pressure over 1,6 bar.
A lot of full throttle acceleration from low speeds - "hard" out of the corner acceleration.
---60Wh/km
3) MODULARITY MEANS GOOD FIT
Every rider is different, that's why it is so important that the bike you have meets your riding needs.
Feel like having a nice, long ride around the county or a quick run up to the woods? Just change your bike's seat type (from moto to bicycle style seat or back), your bike's footing (from pedals to foot pegs or back) and tires (choose among MX, intermediate or road) and your bike is transformed to suit your needs best!
The Core is the only off-road performance e-bike with pedal assist system (PAS).
The Core has three throttle set-ups:
- Classic moto style twist grip throttle - use only the twist grip to regulate throttle.
- Twist grip throttle AND pedal assist - use the pedals or the twist grip to regulate throttle. Using the twist grip will override the pedal assist throttle. This double throttle option is best for off-road trips, where you wish to have a workout, but also want to have maximum control over throttle in case the terrain gets too rough for pedals.
- Pedal assist - use only pedals to control throttle.
Throttle set-ups can be easily be regulated on your bike's display. You can also set up an end speed lock, at 25km/h.
4) MID-DRIVE BIKES VS. HUB-DRIVE BIKES
Electric bikes have started off with the hub-drive designs (where the motor is positioned in the rear wheel) as the motor was meant to only assist the rider's pedalling. This concept still works well, for classic road pedelecs, with weak and light motors of 250 - 500W of power assistance. Performance off-road e-bikes, however, are another matter. Having a heavier, powerful motor placed in the rear wheel presents a serious disadvantage and drastically downgrades its over-all riding performance.
In practice it means that the hub-drive bike's rear wheel does not follow the trail's surface, but bunces off on holes and bumps, due to its heavy weight's rebound. It is like comparing a hardtail bicycle (a bicycle without the rear suspension) to a downhill bike with a great rear suspension.
Mid-drive e-bikes on the other hand, have a much more balanced weight distribution and so minimal unsprung mass. This results in a much better riding stability and manoeuvrability. There is also much less stress on the rear wheel, which means less rim damage and tyre punctures.
Mid-drive bike's advantages:
-
Minimal unsprung mass;
-
Better riding stability;
-
Better manoeuvrability;
-
Less impact on rear wheel (rim);
-
Simpler rear tyre change;
5) NO NOICE, NO FUMES, NO FUSS
Electric off-road bikes are becoming very popular as they fit-in nicely into our vision of a more sustainable future. There's no noise, no exhaust fumes and they can be charged at home at barely no cost. Still not ready to ride electric? No worries. The future will catch up to you, even if you can't see it now.
